Apply ED with current stats or Regular Decision with improved stats?

I'm applying to Vanderbilt, but with my current statistics, I don't have a very good chance of getting in. So, I thought I would apply Early Decision.

However, if I wait and apply Regular Decision, I will have time to improve my GPA and SAT scores. It is more difficult to get in through Regular Decision, though.

What do you think I should do?

current statistics and which school at Vandy are you applying to? demographics as well, please…

nm: just saw your thread for Syracuse so I will kill two birds with one stone…

Vandy: huge reach with current stats, especially your ACT score…

Syracuse: reach to Newhouse and Whitman; match for Arts and science…

I’m applying to Arts & Sciences, but my back-up school is Peabody (Special Education major).

So, would it be better for me to wait and apply Regular Decision if I improve my GPA and SAT scores during the fall?

Vandy is a risk ED bcos they do not defer: you are either accepted or rejected.

Unless you are a hooked applicant, that ACT score will most likely eliminate you from Vandy. With their new loan policy, their stats have jumped. Your goal should be a 30+ to be competitive.

What should my goal SAT score be?

The 25%ile is 2010.
