<p>When you apply for housing, there is a step where you have the option to either browse matching roommates or select a specific roommate. Is this step mandatory? If you do not complete this step, will you be assigned a random roommate? Also, it says that I "applied" for housing, but that it is not complete. Do I need to do anything else at this time?</p>

<p>The app isn’t complete until you accept your room assignment. Your app is technically complete for now because that’s all you can do. </p>
<p>They will randomly assign you a roommate if they end up placing you in a double. Your roommate will probably be the highest available match. If somehow they need to fill singles, since you don’t have a specific and the others might get full, you might get a single instead.</p>
<p>So, would I be more likely to be placed in an double if I request a roommate? I really would not want to be stuck in a single for my freshman year.</p>
<p>^ of course its more likely. you still could get a single though. I suppose if youre realllly opposed to a single, you could try to put that on your housing sheet somehow or call up housing and let them know.</p>
