Hi everybody. Is there any one who is interested in applying to Williams this coming Fall? If so, it would be great if we could talk in this thread and discuss more about our processes.
Thanks so much.

My daughter will likely apply. We are visiting this summer. She’s a competitve rower and wants to row all 4 years. Her gpa is kinda low 3.4 but test scores are great- ACT 34, (SAT comes out in 48 hours) and she has some interesting EC’s. It’s going to be interesting!

i’m going to apply this fall

Hey Guys!! I thin I will apply, I applied last year and I was waitlisted, I guess been poor and international don’t really help you… anyway I pretty everything about the process so if any of you need any help don’t hesitate to ask me, i’ll be more than happy to help, I remember how I was last year when I didn’t know many things!! good luck to all!!

i’m planning on applying early decision - anyone else with me?

I’m applying ED, too! :)

cool. i’m so nervous. i want to get in my application as soon as i can. do you know when all the stuff comes out on the common app site?

I heard the Common App is out on August 1st. I’m starting my essays now, though, so I don’t have a total mental breakdown when applying…

Really? How lucky for me to find all your guys who will stand with me on the “college considering line”,that must be interesting and exciting.BTW,I am going to apply under early decision this October.

yay! so what are everyone’s stats?

Asian female, parochial school
SAT: 2250 (800 CR, 700 M, 750 W)
GPA. 4.2 weighted
Rank: Top 5% out of 300+
ECs: a few clubs, youth group, NHS, community service, etc.
Hook: first gen, low income?
My stats are okay, nothing special, so it really depends on my essays for me, since I know I’ll get decent recommendations.

mixed female (mother’s jamaican)
sat: 2120 (680 CR, 700 M, 740 W)
GPA: 99.922 as of soph year (def over 100 now)
Rank: not sure, def at least top 10%
ECs: community service (hosp, girl scouts, youth court etc), science program at Cold Spring Harbor labs
Hook: 1st gen, URM?
i’m hoping my ethnicity helps me out. should i retake the sat in the fall to try and boost my CR to a 700? are those 20 pts worth it since i’m going in as a bio major???

If you’ve only taken the SAT once, definitely retake it. Even if you’re planning on being a bio major, getting a 700+ will improve your chances a lot. I’m planning on majoring in Classics, but I still retook the SAT to up my poor math score (first time = 630).
If you’ve taken the SAT more than once, then I’d say no. It’s unlikely that you’ll get a higher score on the third or fourth try…

Me:

Probably ED

2360 SAT

800 crit reading
770 math
790 writing

SAT II

Math II 790
USH 780

Eagle scout, 2nd going on 3rd degree black belt, teachers love me, 3.7ish gpa but my frosh year SUCKED…without freshman year its like a 3.85, and my GPA for my last semester of Junior year was 3.95 UW. My school doesn’t weight and we’re really hard, so idk.

Taking BC Calc, linear algebra, diffy qs, ap english lit, ap bio, Spanish 4, and an IS in comp sci senior year.

I self-study graduate philosophy (dunno if that’s a hook or not :P)

White male

Any chances ED?
I plan on being a BA in philosophy or literature and a BS in math…is that even possible?

Thanks!

Oh and im def in top 10% out of a class of 80…lol. School sends a few kids to Big ivies each year, the uChicagos, stanford, Harvrd, Princeton, Columbia…Yale hates us etc.

Hi, junhugie. I think you have a good chance at ED with your stats (so jealous of your 770 M score…seriously, how??). Dunno about your ECs, but you’ll need more than just Eagle Scouts and martial arts. Your GPA is fine, since an upward trend is always good
I don’t think the philosophy thing counts unless you take some kind of standard test that would actually prove you’ve learned something…
Wouldn’t getting a BA and a BS = double major? I’m pretty sure that’s possible. I was planning on doubling with Classics and Studio Art or English.

Probably applying ED… stats are about as follows
GPA: 3.99 (uw)
SAT: 2340
SAT IIs: 800 Spanish (not a native speaker), 750 Math II
APs: Gotten all 5s on the 4 (calc, english lang, spanish, apes) I have taken so far, taking 4 more as a senior

President of Spanish Honor Society, President of Student Democrats, Editor-in-chief of school newspaper

Hooks: Triple legacy, but unfortunately white male from NYC
Chance me?

Oh, and only 4 year member of varsity swim team. Most valuable last year, probably team captain next year

I’m applying! 1st choice :)

I’m applying RD though - parents’ rules.

Um who cares what my resume is? hahah I am a good student XD

It is a double major, but I think it requires more classes since it’s both a BA and BS: They each have different requirements. Most people get two majors within a single degree, like two majors under a BA, to trim the core requirements. I dunno about having both though
