I am trying to transfer to georgia statein the fall. By the end of this semester, I should have 17 credits. I'm going to take 16 credits next semester, making 33 credits. I did the transfer equivalency and only one of my classes don't count so I only have 32. The required GPA to transfer is a 2.5 and the admissions rate is almost half. My GPA will bebetween a 3.5 and 3.8 for this year. Should I apply now or should I wait another semester and then apply? Should I wait until I get the rest of my credits? I applied for GSU as a freshman, but got denied. So, I don't know how much my high school transcript will take affect. When is it best for me to apply? Will I get accepted?

best time to apply as a transfer student is usually during your 2nd year. i would apply sometime now to January of 12’’. You were probably denied from Gsu because 1st year grades was not enough to sway them. They likely overlook your application OR they used your high school grades and SAT scores to base you off of. If your high school grades were not up to par, that make be your answer. With a 3.5-8 Gpa, you’ll likely get accepted to the school of your choice, but wait till you at least finish your 2nd year in college.

My high school GPA was a 2.8 unweighted and my SAT score was 1380. I called the school and they said they won’t look at my high school stuff if I have more than or about 30 credits. I really want to go there my sophomore year…

that is correct ^

you don’t have more than 30 credits yet.

So, I wait until after my 2nd semester? That is when I’ll have 31 credits.

most schools would recommend you transfer after 2 years. While what you were told by the school holds true or not, i don’t know. I would advise you stay for another year just to guarantee transfer, especially if you are in a cc. Otherwise, if you direly want to move out of your current school, I don’t see why that wouldn’t be possible if you keep your grades up. Good luck!

Thank you :)

Also, I made a typo. I meant to say that they “won’t” look at my high school transcript unless have 30 credits or more. They said that since I was denied as a freshman, I should apply after I get my 30 credits. Because they said if I apply before I get them then they’ll only look at my 17 credits, consider me a freshman, and then I won’t be accepted because of high school. I was just trying to make sure if it really mattered, since I’m getting those credits next semester.
