Apply Now or Wait for Better SAT?

I’ll be applying as a transfer for the fall. My SAT score from high school is 1590/2400, but I’ll be re-taking it during March for a better score. Being it’s already February, does anyone here think it’s best to send the 1590 to my target universities (top-50’s), or should I wait until I get my new score before applying? I’m afraid all the transfer spots will fill up if I wait until mid/late March. Disclaimer: my SAT score is not my only disadvantage.

You need to check with the school if they will even consider a new SAT. AFAIK colleges will only accept SATs taken before starting college courses (ie in HS or during a gap year).

How are your grades in college? I think those will be more important than your SAT scores. Also for a 1590 you may want to consider other than top 50 schools.

Apparently many of my target schools don’t have any problem with accepting SATs taken by prospective transfers during college. My GPA is a 3.5, Major’s slightly higher. I chose 2 realistic safety schools in addition to the top-50’s. I’m confident that I’ll be able to score closer to a 2000+ this time around. I’m just worried I might miss my chance to apply if I wait any longer.
