apply out of undergrad, then defer

i am currently a college junior and am thinking about business school. i definitely want to work immediately after college, and then go to business school in a few years. i know a couple top bschools offer deferred admission to college seniors. is it at all detrimental to try this? in specific, lets say i apply to stanford with the intention of deferring, and don't get in. will this hurt my chances in 2-3 years if i apply again after working?

my background: top 10 undergrad university, 3.5 gpa, this summer ill be a summer analyst at a bulge bracket investment bank

I think it’s an excellent idea.

I think you will be a more competitive candidate after a couple years of working so you can list some achievements in your essays.
Stanford doesn’t lack applicants who have been IB analysts at BB banks. However, you could try applying if you wish; adcoms don’t punish re-applicants
