Hi guys!
So I am applying to college A for ED I (due date - Nov 15), and I have college B option, to which I was going to apply ED II (due date - Jan 1) if I do not get in college A. But I have also found out that college B gives priority consideration for very generous merit scholarships to those who apply by Dec 1 (which earlier than deadline for ED II - Jan 1).
The question is: can I apply to ED I and ED II to different schools at the same time and then withdraw my app from college B’s ED II if I get into college’s A ED I? I will be notified about college A’s ED I by Dec 15, so college B’s ED II deadline will not even come yet.
I hope someone will give an answer to this question! I have searched all over the Internet and have not found the information.
P.S.: Am I the only student thinking of such an option?
Thank you!! I’ll look forward to someone’s response!
Yes you can apply for the ED II before you learn about the ED I. HOWEVER, if you are admitted to the ED I, and the aid offer is affordable, you will need to withdraw the ED II application.
I think technically, you can only have 1 ED application outstanding at one time. Apply to school A ED1. Apply early to school B RD. If you are rejected to School A, advise school B that you wish to convert your application to ED2. You’ll send them the signed agreement to attend if accepted at that time.
While @happymomof1’s method above seems to achieve the same thing, you can’t have 2 “I’ll come if you accept me” signed forms out there at once. And if your application is at school by the ED1 date, even if it’s for ED2, you could end up being reviewed in that pile.
You definitely won’t be reviewed in the ED1 pile if you did not mark your app as such.
You should apply by the early deadline, and then if you are not accepted to College A, call the school and ask to convert your application to EDII.
