Apply To College

How many colleges should a student apply to ? Should they do both early decision & regular admission ?

I saw that you qualified for EOP at the SUNYs, so that suggests you may qualify for application fee waivers. And there are some schools like Case Western that have no application fees. Keep that in mind as you’re applying. But you also have to pay to send your scores and transcripts to each school. The College Board will allow you to apply for a waiver of the fee for sending scores, upto 5 schools, I think.

Generally speaking, you could have 6 or 7 schools to which you apply. Two reaches, two or three matches, and two safeties. Keep in mind that whether a school is in one of these categories can be influenced by whether or not you’re a recruited athlete, an underrepresented minority (URM), a first-generation college students, a socio-economically disadvantaged student, etc. If you have any questions about reaches, matches, and safeties, please ask.
