Hello, I have trouble choosing which university program to apply. Im interested in both engineering and liberal arts, so what should I apply? I have not decided my career path. Well, almost nobody can at this stage, right?

If I do engineering, I will have only 2 electives throughout four years. I cant get enough education on liberal arts, especially philosophy, which is my favorite.

However, if I double major liberal arts and science (ex. Physics and Philosophy from U of T), then what if I want to be an engineer in the middle? Then Ill be screwed because its almost impossible to switch. (unless I take 1 or 2 extra years to make up the engineering foundational courses) I also don't know what job I can get with such kinda degree.

Please give me some advice. Thanks in advance for your help!

Check the school’s web site to see which internal transfer (i.e. engineering -> liberal arts and science, versus liberal arts and science -> engineering) is easier.

But you may have to follow the curriculum for engineering in the first year either way, so that if you do choose engineering, you won’t be behind.

How will you only have two electives the entire four years of schooling as an engineer? I remember having quite a few requirements, but that seems a little exaggerated to me. Most of my engineering friends had at least a minor, and many had a double major. Heck, my one friend picked up a psychology double major his senior year since he realized most of his non-technical classes had been in that department. And that was while fulfilling all of his ROTC class requirements in addition to the engineering one.

I was looking at University of Toronto Engineering Science major. I assume other good engineering schools are similar, right? with lots of mandatory courses. I know some less prestigious school can let you do double degree in engi and business in 5 years or so.
