Apply without the writing supplement

Hi, guys.
I'm somewhat interested in Hamilton but just not willing to complete the writing supplement. Anyway, I have limited time to write a dozen of essays required by other schools I am more into. I just wonder whether I will be definitely rejected if applying without the supplement.(Hamilton may be just a match for me.)
I've sent email to Admission Office about it, but the reply evaded my question. :(
Thank you guys for any advice!

Just answer the Hamilton specific questions, including the required short-answer essay. They will appear in your portal. You can preview the essay question online.

I realized that I misnamed the short-answer essay listed in “other information” as writing supplement.
So my actual question is: this short-answer essay is not strictly required by the Commonapp, so not giving a response will bring me no chances of getting admitted?

If you are “somewhat interested in Hamilton but just not willing to complete the [short answer essay],” my honest advice to you is to not apply. If you can’t be bothered to complete an essay of 100 to 250 words with Hamilton College as the topic, you’re better off at another college. If you go ahead and waste your time and the time of the admissions staff by submitting an application anyway without the short answer essay, I don’t know whether or not you will be “definitely rejected.” But I hope so.

OP: “This short answer question is not strictly required by the Commonapp . . .” You are not applying to the Commonapp. You are, or would be, applying to Hamilton College. There is no Commonapp College.

All mandatory submissions are mandatory. All optional submissions are also mandatory - “optional” is just a way for a college to sort the serious candidates who will do anything to get in from those who are just tossing an application over the wall.
