I applied to South Carolina on January 2, well after the priority deadline of December 1. What type of consideration will my application get, and would I still be considered for the honors college?

My guess is that your best bet at all would be spring admission and I’m doubtful of Honors College, but you never know. Check with the Admissions Office and they can tell you more information!

Also, did you apply separately for the Honors College? If not, then you definitely won’t be considered.

From admissions page. Regular deadline is December 1. “Decisions for applications received or postmarked by this date will be released during the week of March 10. Applications received after this date will only receive consideration if space remains available.”

Thank you. Do you have any idea if they are considering late applications this year from highly qualified students (4.5 GPA, 2310 SAT)?

I agree with AUgirl that you need to talk to admissions about your situation and why so late applying

Thanks. I will give the AO a call tomorrow and see if my application will be considered. I applied late because I learned about their NMF money and the breadth of the program in International Business late. I never really thought to look into state schools until after an ED rejection at Duke in December.

It seems to not have messed me up from an admissions standpoint, as I was just accepted (I didn’t expect this for another couple weeks). However, I never had a chance to apply to the honors college. There is another “chance” after one semester, right?

Same here SurvivorFan. My S applied two weeks late. No merit aid (as it was probably gone?). No chance to apply to honors college. My son got his acceptance letter yesterday. Like you we were surprised to hear early. I’m posting this because this kind of detailed information was very useful to us when we were helping him decide where to apply.

General Comments:He’s very happy. His dad applied to Virginia Tech in 1982 and was DENIED so there is much teasing and taunting in our house. (His dad ended up going to U of Rochester.) Anyway, loved the campus and just a 4 hour drive from our home. Seriously considering this school.

Final aid offers don’t go out until March, so still may be possible unless only students who applied on time are considered for merit aid (which may be the case) - check website or call admissions to ask. Survivor, it is possible to apply to honors later - go to honors website and read information on transfer admission. It is on a space available basis only.
