I am almost certain the answer is on the forum someplace but I can't find it. Help! if a student applies early action (for 2015) at the time of acceptance (Dec, Mid Jan, Feb) does he recieve a financial aid package? it sounds like students do--so, based on what? Only merit aid? The FAFSA doesn't get filled out until January of 2015, correct? I must be missing something. Thank you. The timeline is confusing for a newbie.

many EA schools do not give FA info until spring. Sometimes acceptances will come with merit offers, but full FA info would come later.

ED schools will give FA info earlier based on estimates provided from the family.

Only merit scholarship may be announced early. Even with EA, it may take a month or two before you hear any merit aid. Many schools require CSS profile which can be submitted at the time of EA/ED and the school may have the tentative financial aid package ready with admission notice.
