Applying as a transfer but...

I graduated from HS in 2008 with extremely good academics and numerous extra-curriculars under my belt. I had applied to CALS, and was accepted there as a potential Animal Science major. Through most of middle and high school, I had been fixated on becoming a veterinarian, and focused most of my energies on pursuing that field. I instead chose to attend another school on a full scholarship.

At that school, I encountered some difficulties, not the least of which being a lack of preparedness for what I was getting into. As a result, my academic performance suffered significantly, and I left the school.

I returned home to regroup and try to start clean. Over the summer, I took some computer science courses at a local community college. I found that not only was I doing very well in them, but I had a significant interest in the subject. I decided to go with what felt right at the time, and I enrolled in a full load of computer science courses for the fall. Now, thanks to AP courses and college credit I gained during high school, I am able to graduate with an Associate's degree in Computer Science this spring. I am also maintaining a significantly improved GPA.

Do you think Cornell can look past my performance last year, and take me as a transfer student for fall of 2010?

It’s definitely possible.
