CCC student with a 3.9 GPA that wants to transfer as a chemical engineering major next fall (which means i'm applying in the immediate future) in the aforementioned situation. I'm picking out classes for next semester and I could theoretically register for a materials class or a statics/strength class but I'd have to drop ochem... and i was stoked for ochem. Am I doing myself a disservice here by not exposing myself to an introductory course? thanks in advance.

I say you take the ochem. It’s a definitely a requirement for your major and you already started the lower division chem sequence, so you might as well stay. And perhaps the university you transfer to simply wants you to have the math Chem and physics over the engineering.

The university won’t expect you to have engineering courses completed but if they know your cc offers ochem, they might expect that of you.

Have you checked the prereqs on assist?

Yeah, they’re both listed as prereqs. It was initially my thinking that i’d just miss intro to C++ and the one offerred engineering course so I could complete my ochem sequence in a less threatening environment.
