So I did the most stupid I have ever done in my life. I let my mom stop me from completing my app on time. My app was completed a month after my counselor sent in my transcript? O_O Anyways, I got my decision today and was wait-listed. I am 100% sure that I would have gotten in if I sent everything in on time. So, as my title states, if I don't get off the wait-list, so I apply as a repeat junior next year? Going for one year is kind of pointless. Is there any disadvantaged to this?

Where were you wait listed?

I was thinking the same thing. I’m in the exact same situation. I was thinking repeat junior as well.

If you did get accepted, I think it’d be much harder for your teachers (that you have as a repeat junior and senior) to write you recommendations for college. Also, don’t think that you didn’t get in because you completed it later. I applied to one school last year later than the deadline, and applied this year again on time yet still didn’t make it (maybe 'cause I applied for financial aid this year…)

Exeter. They wait-listed me even though my app was ONE MONTH late. That must mean something.

Nah, I doubt it’s the late thing. In reality, they don’t pay much attention to the dates and things that the papers and such arrived. As long as your application is finished by the time they get to it, you are good.

In fact, my application was late too. Both my test results and math recommendation. I’m waitlisted too. But don’t think that’s the reason. It’s most likely, there was someone better.

(I applied to Exeter as well and got waitlisted as a repeat sophmore on financial aid)

^ Maybe, but you can’t deny that turning the stuff in on time would have helped us alot.

Same thing happened with me, sophmoree. Exeter didn’t receive a lot of my materials until several weeks after the deadline. I was wait listed too.

I think repeating junior year is a good idea. Exeter is a unique experience and you’ll benefit much more from spending two years there rather than one, and you will be much better prepared for college.

Anyone else think that Exeter wait listed an usually high number of people this year?

I feel like they always waitlist tons of people, which really concerns me. My mom said she was looking through sites earlier today at work when I called her with the news, and said apparently only like 20-25 kids are on the waitlist for each grade. I HIGHLY doubt this number considering the number just on here. If this number is correct though, I would be so happy. But for how many people get put on waitlists, and withdraw, I’m guessing it’s more like 100 or 200. Hah.

Since Exeter’s yield is around 75%, they might take us off the wait-list (: It still depends on your position on the wait-list but still… Oh well, next year Imma do everything early and complete because I was basically accepted into Hotchkiss but I didn’t finish my app… :(

haha yea thats probably accurate, the majority of the people wait listed will end up signing contracts at other schools anyways…so we still have a shot. i applied for senior year so hopefully less people were wait listed

how were you basically accepted into hotchkiss, woeishe?

I applied as a junior repeat. I was accepted into exeter, andover, and choate. Chose on Exeter!

True, true. I really have no other choice besides Exeter. (and it was my number one choice) I applied to Andover, but didn’t receive notification today, which means I’m waitlisted or rejected. (I’m guessing a waitlist?) I want Exeter more, so hopefully I get in. I hope all of you guys get in as well!

^ I got interviewed by the director of multicultural affairs and she absolutely loved me. she kept calling me and sending me emails telling me to submit my app

Congratulations andoverhopefulX!

I need a good safety school for next year… what should it be??

I cannot worry about next year yet! Too soon!!

Lol (: thanks dude(or dudette?)

Dudettee. Hah. What schools did you apply to?
