I'm not absolutely positive what area i would want to major in but there is a slight possibility i would end up as a business major. I want to apply as undecided so i can take more classes and hopefully my intended major will become clearer to me, but I know that it can be hard to switch into a business school and I'm afraid i won't get in. But at the same time I don't even know if I'll end up with that major. So should I still apply as undecided or should i select a major

It will depend on how the particular school is organized. Some school’s have undergraduate business schools that require a separate application for entering freshmen; others are only two-year schools and don’t require an application until your sophomore year.

There are lots of things for high school seniors to worry about, but this is a minor one. Many, many students apply as undecided; many others change their majors. Lots of colleges don’t require a major to be declared until second semester, sophomore year.

In my view as a mom with an fairly undecided daughter (so I’ve researched this), the only reasons to be concerned about your major at this point are: 1) to make sure your chosen school offers your potential major, and 2) to declare a possible major if you’re fairly certain and your college assigns advisors by the major you list on the application.
