Applying by mail and std test score submissions

Hey everyone,

Has anyone else had difficulties with the Common App, specifically troubles with your counselors/teachers receiving recommendation requests and stuff? Only about 50% of my teachers have received my recommendation requests and my counselor hasn't received any. We've checked to make sure that a spam blocker isn't messing stuff up, but our efforts have proved fruitless so far. So, I'm just gonna apply via paper and snail mail. Old school, I know.

So, with me applying with paper to Cornell, how should I go about submitting my ACT scores? I've looked all over the admissions site and the Common App site but have found nothing.

Preesh!

im thinking you meant SAT scores in the title, hopefully anyways. or maybe you just meant standardized…still funny though

When I applied via paper application, many moons ago, I just went to the ACT site and requested a score report be mailed to my selected colleges. I’m sure you can do the same ;)

Why don´t you apply electronically and send in recommendations and transcript through slow mail?

What some HS guidance counselor would do is put a packet together for you - recommendation letters, transcript, school profile - then send a packet out for each school you are applying to. As long as they have your SS #, adcom will put all of your application information together, so you don´t have to worry about which piece of information gets there first.

I would recommend applying electronically because it will get onto school´s database faster, otherwise they would have to manually input your data to their system. Until you are in a school´s database, you won´t be contacted for interview.

By “std,” I meant standardized.

And dewdrop, it is possible to have ACT mail the score report instead of electronically submitting it? I was unsure of that also.

I do have a packet of my recommendation letters, transcripts, etc., but they have to be mailed to a separate place than the application. There’s a different address. Unfortunately, applying electronically seems nearly impossible because most of my teachers and my counselor have had no success even being able to login to the Common App stuff. I have no idea why it’s not working.
