Will they notify me earlier if I apply by this deadline as opposed to the January deadline or does it not make a difference?

Haven't figure out their notification system. My S & his friends applied by the early merit award deadline. They were all notified in March or later, so I'm not sure it makes a difference. If they want to interview you for a merit award, I believe the interviewing is around January or so & that would be a good sign that you're likely admitted.

If you are going to be interviewed for a scholarship, you will find out in February. If not, you will find out at some point in time in March. Other than the admits with scholarship interviews, the timing for acceptance letters is pretty random. The earliest any of us heard (I think) is the first or second day of February. Who knows if it will be the same this year!

I recently went to a reception in Minneapolis, and they said that they start sending out admission notifications as well as Merit scholarship notifications in early February, and they continue until April 1. So April 1 is the end of the admission notification calendar.

We know of people who were notified after 4/1, but most were notified in March. It seems somewhat random as to when folks were notified, from our experience.

I was notified mid-April and I submitted my application by the priority deadine, but then it could be because I got spring admission.

No, the priority deadline doesn't do anything; it just makes you eligible for scholarships. I received my admissions packet like March 30 or something, and by that time I was freaking out because everyone else had already gotten in a long time ago.

We were mainly happy that S got his acceptance before they had the 4/1 Admitted Student's Reception in Honolulu, so he could decide whether to attend (we did).
