applying Cornell ED vs Duke ED (engineering)?

What are the major differences between the two?
So far, I have:

Cornell
-cold (-)
-hockey (+)
-engineering co-op (+)
-more options in COE (+)

Duke
-warm (+)
-high target for wall st. companies, if i'm one of those engineers who ends up in finance (+)

We’re up here at Cornell visiting our freshman engineering S for his fraternity weekend. We are from Virginia. I don’t think we’ve ever met a more impressive group of guys. Most we talked to are engineers. Their internships/job offers/graduate school acceptances took our breath away. Some are pre-med. The ORIE major will give you the important technical skills for employment in finance. The research opportunities are amazing. I would look long and hard at this as an option. Cornell is the best of the best! Don’t be fooled by rankings - Duke’s engineering is very solid and if that feels the best to you - do it! Weather??? don’t let this get in the way of your decision, it’s 4 years…kids adjust…

the nuts and bolts of cornell are very appealing; the weather is really all that puts me off. from what i’ve heard, a warm campus correlates to happiness, which kinda makes sense. but with global warming, maybe cornell will be warmer? (alright, that’s a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea)

Basketball, school spirit, and the residential community are huge pluses for Duke.

I think they are the same for finance job. But check the career survey for 2011 and you get a better idea.

Cornell CoE is great for engineering  However, Duke is a bigger target for wall street, and is more selective.

can any Cornell students enlighten me on the actual weather? (like retrospectively)

My S said this year, winter was like a Virginia winter. It was mild. The temp approached 80 today…it completely runs the range of all temperatures. It’s gray in the winter with snow or rain frequently. Summer is beautiful. Fall is amazing. It frequently snows in the spring. It’s 4 years and very tolerable for college students. People there are happy and kids line up to go there.
