Hello CC, as im approahing my senior year I have some questions concerning the application process. Im a Ga native born and raised, and so my dream school has always been Ga. State University. I feel pretty condient in my abilites to get accepted RD, however I would love to get everything out the way early by getting accepted EA.This is the promblem as I believe it would be a reach for me to get in EA and so I was wondering would it be weird for me to apply EA and RD at the same time? I have already reieved my application waivers so the cost of appllying dosent affect me, its just the thought of having multiple applications active at the same time. Would the admisson officers see something wrong with this, or is this a common situtation that wouldnt really matter? Sorry if im making a mountain out of a mole hill its just i want the whole application process out the way. Thanks in advance
That’s not even possible.
You don’t have to apply for both EA and RD. If you apply EA you will get a decision from the school earlier but you still don’t have to make a final decision until May 1. If you don’t make the EA deadline though, you can apply RD.
You don’t apply EA and RD at the same time to the same school – you can’t have two active apps in simultaneously. If you want to apply EA, you’ll either get accepted, rejected (and you don’t get to re-apply that year) or deferred – at which time you’ll hear a decision along with the rest of the RD applicants.
Google GSU’s “common data set” and look at section C. (Here it is: http://em.georgiasouthern.edu/osra/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/cds15-16.pdf)
Look at C9. How does your GPA and ACT/SAT scores compare with admitted students? Is your GPA or scores really that close to the edge?
If you think your 1st semester grades senior year will dramatically boost your GPA or you plan on another ACT/SAT re-take to help your chances, then hold off and only apply RD.
You certainly don’t have to work on ECs as a part of your application – the CDS says they aren’t considered whatsoever in its evaluation (Section C7).
You can look up other schools’ CDS as well.
OK so there is no way to apply early action before the November 1 deadline and then apply sometime later before I get my EA response? I never knew that. I guess that means I`ll apply EA and then the waiting begains. Thanks to everyone who responded.
If you are deferred EA you’re automatically put into the RD pile–they’ve “deferred” their decision-making.
Yo can not do so. As others have said, you may get deferred.
If you get deferred, you can also send updates of accomplishments to admissions, and ask the to consider them as part of your application.
@T26E4 the link you provided is for Georgia Southern’s CDS, not Georgia State’s.
Here is Georgia States CDS. http://oie.gsu.edu/files/2016/05/CDS_2015-2016-C.pdf Same recommendation to check stats applies.
It’s impossible to send in two apps to the same school- whichever application you’re using, Common App or the school’s app, it wouldn’t be allowed. You choose EA or RD, whichever fits you best, and proceed from there.
