Applying earlier for early decision

<p>I'm applying ED to Penn and I obviously realize that the official deadline is November 1st.
I have everything finished with my application except for the essays, which I just started. I had planned to get my app in way before the deadline, but does it really matter that much to admissions officers?</p>

<p>I can see how applying the day before the deadline can seem like laziness but is applying a week or a couple days before gonna hurt at all?</p>

<p>I have heard that it doesn’t matter. They won’t really start to look at the applications until a few days after the deadline. (It does take a while to get all the files sorted out, test scores matched, etc).
I doubt officers notice the date of application.</p>
