Hello!
My brothers both went to Colby, so I'm familiar with it and I know I would be happy there. I love Maine, the programs I'm interested in are wonderful and very active, the campus is gorgeous, and the food is phenomenal :)

However, I do have a few concerns.

I was wondering if a) the college ever feels distant/lonely. I'm not really the constant partying type, but being so far away from a city seems like there would be less social opportunities. But, then again, cities stress me out sooo...

b) Are there enough types of people? I'm very theater-y and I'm super interested in pursuing theater and music. I also want to get involved in The Bridge (I think that's what it's called - LGBTQ?). I was wondering if I'll be able to find people with similar interests and personalities and what-not.

Thank you so much!

Did you look at Bates, Wesleyan, Vassar, and Oberlin? You might be happier in a similar but more LGBTQ friendly environment.

For me, as a Mainer, I want to be pretty close to home. Bates is super close to where I live, though, and the others are all fairly far. I did look at Wesleyan, but I didn’t really like it. It’s not an issue for me of wanting to be accepted or anything, just what sort of activities I would want to be involved in. Thanks for your input, though!

a) No, there’s so much going on on campus and there’s always friends to hang out with.
b) Trust me, the amount of things you can involved in is overwhelming. You will not be bored and will definitely find your “niche”.

Thank you so much! I’m definitely applying early decision, and I’m pretty sure my concerns are just because it’s a big decision and I suck at making any decision. But I’m already so excited, and your post really helped!

how is the aid for international students on average?
