Applying Early Decision

I am interested in applying Early Decision to University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) but I am worried that my GPA will hurt my chances. My GPA was somewhat low my freshman and sophomore years but I have attained straight As my junior year and most likely senior year. Should I wait and apply regular decision so the university sees that my GPA is solid or should I still apply ED?

Freshman Year: 3.71
Sophmore Year: 4.0
Junior Year: 4.5

I think my SAT scores and ECs will be good but I am not sure about my GPA. Any advice?

If they don't accept you...

I bet Penn will defer you and not outright reject you, especially since you have an upward trend (maybe they will want to see if you can keep it up). By being deferred, you can send Penn your mid-year report. When they reconsider your application, they will be more likely to accept you than other candidates because you have shown a higher level of interest since you originally applied ED (assuming your grades continue to be impressive).

I guarantee that if you get rejected, it will not be because of your grades. apply early decision.

Lol thanks for the boost of confidence :)

I've always been kind of against the whole early decision idea. It just seemed far too binding for my comfort.

Still, not like I can stop you. If you REALLY want to go to UPenn, and you're REALLY ready to turn down all other possibilities if you get in, then by all means, ED is the place to be.
