Who else is applying early to Middlebury?! I'd be interested to hear where you're all from and why you chose Midd.

I am applying early decision to Middlebury. I’m from New Hampshire, but I’m currently living in Istanbul for my senior year of highschool. I attended the Advanced Studies Program at the St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire this past summer, and many of the program’s interns were Middlebury students. After visiting, I realized it was the place for me. I have been alpine and nordic ski racing for the past thirteen years, and languages/international relations are my top interests. Middlebury does all of these things quite well. Another huge factor is the location. I love New England, and Vermont is home to some of the best skiing in the North East. Middlebury just seems like a perfect match.

I am! I’m from Oberlin, Ohio (same town as the college of the same name). I’m applying because I love the small size, I love the vibe that it has, I love that they invented quidditch, and I love that their campus is gorgeous to say the least. Like hepdep, it just seemed like a perfect fit.

hep-is Dartmouth a consideration?

So now Dartmouth is so desperate for applicants they have to come over to our site to try and steal them?

Hahahaha ;-)

I’m applying ED to Middlebury. I’m from New York, and I looked at a lot of liberal arts colleges in the northeast and Middlebury just stood out to me. Obviously the campus is incredibly beautiful, and I could easily picture myself there. I visited on a really nice day in the summer, which could have influenced my impression, but I’m used to some level of cold and crummy weather and I don’t think that any bad weather could make me like Middlebury less. Why else… hmm, well I’m interested in international politics and economics, and I love the emphasis Middlebury puts on internationalism. I’m also interested in English, which Middlebury is very strong in, and there’s the Bread Loaf School of English.

I am not, but I’m just wondering- there is no writing supplement for Middlebury, correct?

No mandatory writing supplement. They’ve made it optional this year to provide an applicant “the ability to write a short statement that is specific to Middlebury College and the ability to upload a document (a resume, for instance).”

MiddKid86 – where do you get this language you quote about writing “a short statement that is specific to Middlebury” or uploading a resume?

After a lot of thought and a 2nd visit that changed my mind completely (I had a great host), I’m going Middlebury ED. I wish us all luck. It’s going to be a long 7 weeks or so but I’m very excited to be a Panther soon.

Good luck everyone!

Yeah, good luck everyone! I applied ED1 to Midd and it was seriously the best decision of my life. No worries the rest of senior year. :)

i’m also applying early to midd. i visited twice, and both times fell in love and knew midd was the one. ive toured an overwhelming amount of other schools, and each one left something to be desired. not midd. fingers crossed! good luck to all!

I’m applying to Middlebury early as well. :)

Have you guys been contacted for alumni interviews yet?

No, sadly. Have you?

just had my alumni interview in nyc! i think it went well, fingers crossed! less than a month now!!
