I need to retake the ACT to meet the standard of UMich, but I have been seeing all over that applying early is the best thing to do. So can I apply before or near late Oct(time of ACT) and just have my scores sent later? I am new to the college admissions thing so sorry if this is a dumb question.

bump....anyone?

You can fill out the application, send it in, then send your scores in later. But your app won't be looked at until you send everything in.

Since you have already taken the ACT once, you can send in that score and apply very early. You can note on your application that you will be retaking it in October, and if your original ACT score really doesn't match UMich's standards, you can send in your October ACT score even after you are once rejected for re-evaluation.

Either that, or they will just simply hold your application and re-evaluate it when the indicated October scores come in.

Their point being: Just send in the scores and apply early anyway, because there's a chance that you might already meet umich's criteria. And if not, no biggie. Just send in your scores later for reevaluation.

Either way, I know that they will give you another chance after they first evaluate you and decide that you don't meet their criteria. I asked their office of undergraduate admissions the question a while ago. I just can't remember if they reject you and give you another opportunity, or if they just hold it until they get the new set of scores.
