Hello everyone,I am not very sure about the application process,so hope you guys can help?
I want to apply ED to a certain school, and want to apply to other schools as RD.Do I have to send out app for the rest of the RD schools together with the ED school? or can I wait for the ED decision and send app only after I get rejected?
Since so many schools share the same common app, I wander if I have to apply to all schools at one go.
One more qn,is it possible to send common app and supplements and results separately, meaning not at the same time?
Thank you so much!!!!

No you don’t have to send the RD ones in. Actually one of the benefits of trying ED is that if you get accepted, you only submit the remaining few of schools you’d definitely consider – no need to apply to the iffy choices. You need to look at the Common App directions more. It’s very flexible and everything you mention is viable.

@T26E4 thanks a lot for your reply…That means I only need to worry about ED now, leaving the rest till later,(or no need to worry at all if lucky enough…lol). Thanks again!

I wouldn’t leave everything for later. Have them ready to go if you get rejected/deferred in December.

If you are asking whether you should wait until after notice of ED decision to apply RD elsewhere, you better start checking those others to which you intend to apply. For example if you intend to apply to University of California campuses you have to get your regular decision app in by no leter than Nov 30; many others also have app deadlines near that time. Also a number of colleges require you to apply earlier, such as by Dec 1, if you want any chance of qualify for scholarships.

Have your RD applications finished and ready to go. Nothing is worse that getting rejected from ED and then having to complete applications quickly while you’re still upset. The applications, and your RD chances, will suffer as a result. Write your RD applications as if your ED school didn’t exist.

Aside from issues noted by drusba, if you get rejected/deferred, all you have to do is push the button and enter your credit card number.

Thanks for all your advice. You guys have really gave me constructive advice.I have not pay attention to specific deadlines imposed by any schools,I may miss them if you guys did not tell me to look out for it.Yeah, okay,I will prepare for my RD too.But I am running short of time since I am now preparing for my A-Levels at the same time…
But really thank you guys a lot!

You might check the scholarship policies of your non-ED options. Some schools give priority for scholarship consideration to those whose applications are complete by December 1. So you might want to apply EA at these schools at the same time you apply ED at your first choice.

@annasdad thanks for the tip! I never heard of such thing!!haha, well, you may save me a huge sum of money=) Thanks!!
