<p>HELP! Columbia is like my dream school and I want to apply ED next year. I was looking through their website today and found that Columbia allows its ED applicants to apply EA elsewhere...Since Columbia is probably a super-reach for me, I'd feel alot better if I could get into another EA school as safety (thinking perhaps Fordham?) so I'd feel less uncertain in the RD round when/if I get rejected/deferred from Columbia. Will applying this way impact the admission decisions..? And would they actually know..?</p>
<p>No. I know plenty of people who applied ED to Columbia and EA to a state school.</p>

<p>HOWEVER...even though Columbia may allow you to apply EA to another school..MAKE SURE that the EA school you are applying to lets you apply <em>ED</em> somewhere else.</p>
<p>I was about to apply to Georgetown EA and Columbia ED..Columbia's policy allowed it but Georgetown's did not allow you to apply ED anywhere.</p>
<p>Check the policies of BOTH schools!</p>
