Applying ED for Brown

I am wondering if applying Early Decision to Brown would be a waste of my Early Decision or do I have an adequate chance of being accepted? Brown is currently my first-choice, but I do not know if it is too far of a reach. Feedback from more experience CCers?

I’m not sure graduating early constitutes a hook…

It probably doesn’t. I talked to one of the admissions people from the University and he said it was impressive and demonstrates ambition, so I listed it. Any feedback?

Your only strength is the rigor of your curriculum. Decent SAT, below average EC’s, and a good amount of Community Service. Hey, I am probably applying ED to Brown this year as well, so I don’t have any credibility to chance you. Good luck! :)

Your SATs are not going to hurt you, and your GPA certainly doesn’t knock you out. Like pranam said, your rigor’s good. But one question… what exactly do you do for kids in Africa? if it’s big you should make it big on your app. I’d say you have a decent shot.

–your (not-so-mean) competition :P

thanks for the consideration. The thing in Africa is kind sending supplies, letters, and money to orphans, but I don’t want Brown to think I did it FOR the application, so I won’t make that stand out.
I have special circumstances that make up for my lack of EC’s, but I would rather not go into detail.
Thanks for all the replies!
I don’t really need any more feedback and am taking up room on the message board from other hopeful students.

In your case, I would say you’re a normal applicant. You definitely stand a chance, but I feel like your essays/recs will make or break you. Work really really hard on them and I think you stand a shot.
