woot woot*!!! just submitted my application online today, and my recommandation and ED contract are also in the mail now.... man, what a relief... lol, I just have to rant.

good luck. let us know what happens

mine was suppose to be today but officially is sent monday. gl man now we all wait

yup :), but it's going to be hell of a long wait..., man, i hate waiting! lol. good luck to you too and all other that are applying!

whate were your profiles like... i.e. sat/act scores gpa, ec etc

my son is planning to apply ed next fall and i am just curious if he has the right grades/ec mix. he obviously hasn't taken the sat's yet (just started his junior year)

thanks

My weighted GPA is 4.2, my SAT is 1220 on second try with essay score of 9, top 7 percentile of my class, just took my first ACT on sept. and still waiting for score. I have no EC, because I have been working ever since when I was only 15 to help out my single parent family, which I explained to UF admission committe in my essay. Also the fact that I am Chinese (minority), first generation to attend college, and from a low income-single parent family will boost my chance for UF.

you should tell your son to start preparing as soon as possible, it is never too early to start practicing for SAT and ACT, also you need to fork over some money to buy him tons of prep books. I only wish I would've start preping earlier, I only started to prepare for SAT during the middle of my junior year... could've done alot better with more practice.

Hmm, Chinese is an URM? I didn't think so, guess I could be wrong. I always had the impression that being asian was a detriment to someone's chances if it had any effect at all.

Do the letters of rec. have to reach their office by oct/2 as well, and how did ya'll do it, did ya'll just put everything in a big envelope or do they gather the ED contrat from one place the rec. from another the transcript from another? I'm so confused how does it work?

I sent everything in separately, each within a couple of days of each other.

According to the 2005 Newsweek publication, Kaplan's "America's Hottest Colleges", 7% of the kids admitted to UF in 2005 were Asian. By comparison, Florida's total population is 1.7% Asian. It sounds really good for you, Mattzheng.

I sent my letters and my contract together.....

Dondilx, how long did it take for the contract and the letters of recommendation to show up on the Status website online?

Early Decision, Teacher's Recs, etc, doesnt have to reach the admission office by oct 2. but it's vital that your online application are submitted by oct. 1, that is the only real DEADLINE during the whole applying process. Anything else can be submitted later than oct. 2, as it was told by a UF admission committe member who did a presentation in our highschool. And yes, being Chinese profoundly boosted my chance for UF, because UF likes diversity.

Show the data on the applicants too, not just admittees, and your post would have credibility. I might have a totally wrong idea of what a URM is, but what your post tells me (obviously) is that there's about 4x the relative number of asian students at UF as there are living in the state. That's underrepresended?

UF admissions are extremely formulaic. As it stands your SAT is at the bottom cusp of the middle 50%, your best chance of getting in is a high ACT score, not your born race.

I was told by UF admission committee that your SAT or ACT score is appromixly 5-10% of you "admittance score". Thats why Im not too worried about my SAT, also, Im already signed up for the Oct 14th SAT, and I've been studying the hell out of it, I know I will do better.

Submitted right now as well. The wait begins

congrats, good luck to you, man/woman!

man lol

: )

Good luck to both of you. Maybe I came off as an ******* but I'm not, really :)

So again, best of luck, hopefully it works out for both of you.

Well, with that 7% Asian enrollment, wouldnt UF want to recruit more Asian every year to compensate for the loss of Asians in its graduating class, to keep a certain quota of Asian enrollment met? I think that makes sense.
