I'm applying ED to NYU next year for admission for Fall 2015. This will be my senior year schedule:

AP Calculus
AP American Government
AP Literature and Composition
Physics
Accounting
Entrepreneurship

I have never taken AP classes prior to senior year, and I really regret this. I have taken all Honors math (there is no AP math until senior year) and all English honors until Junior year. My Junior year consisted of only one Honors class but I chose my General Business class which is a rigorous course but not as rigorous as AP classes.

I was wondering, since I am applying ED, NYU will only receive my senior schedule, as first quarter grades won't be out yet, right? Will my chances increase at getting into NYU because I am taking AP courses senior year, or will they not care about my senior year schedule at all?

They’ll absolutely care about your SR schedule. Since your transcript is thin on APs, one thing to consider is that you’re situation can be helped by waiting to apply RD if you plan on getting excellent grades in your APs first semester.

Your option is to apply ED with honors only classes in 6 semesters or RD with the same transcript but an armload of As in AP coursework.

In my opinion, the 2nd transcript looks much stronger. The caveat is: can you knock out tons of As in your AP classes?

@T26E4 hm… alright, I will try for RD. I wanted to do ED because I really want to get into NYU, but I agree with you! I see now. It does look much stronger so I will definitely look into that… thanks a ton!
