I'm applying ED to Columbia. That means my app is due Nov 1.

I've taken the ACT and SAT once each.

My SAT score was OK, but far from the standards of Columbia. I know I can improve it. I am going to sign up for the Oct test date, which will arrive barely in time for the ED deadline (I'm assuming before Oct 28/29 based on previous years' tests). Should I have it sent directly to Columbia, or would I have enough time to check the score before I send it? I'm worried it may not be high enough and I'll have to take the Nov test (for other colleges which I'm applying RD to). Would Columbia even consider the late-Nov score if I were to send it in?

As far as ACT went, I thought it was a REALLY rough test- rougher than SAT- but I managed a "better" (though average for Columbia) score than my SAT with a 33. It says they "use the highest score" so I am considering taking it to potentially raise it 1 point (2 if I get lucky). But would a score of 1 or 2 points lower look bad? Do you even recommend I take the ACT again?

Thanks! I'm freaking out about the nuances of all this standardized test business, and I want to make sure I completely understand what I need to do. I really wanted to sign up for the June 4 SAT test, but previously-made vacation plans rendered that impossible.
