I am planning to apply to BU ED (CGS) since it is my first choice. I always thought that ED gives one a boost when applying to school. But I just saw on the Sparknotes website that BU’s ED acceptance rate is 47% compared to its RD rate of 57%.

What’s up with that? Is it because RD they can put people into CGS? Should I just apply RD because the acceptance rate is higher?

Your chances will proabably be higher applying ED. The acceptance rate could be lower because people who have CGS as a long shot might be applying in greater numbers during ED because they know that they should have a better shot then.

3.2-3.3 GPA, 26 ACT, currently 1750 SAT but a projected 1950 now. Pretty good extracurriculars. Unknown class rank. I'm on the low end, but BU is my first choice

No, you're hardly on the low end. Youll end up better than me. We're pretty similar though.

I'm about 3.33 GPA, 1700 SAT (waiting back from ACT I took Saturday), average ECs of mostly excellent community service/volunteer work including some overseas, no class rank but I know i'm around top 40%.

We should be fine. My friend is a freshman at CGS now. He applied ED last year and got in. He had similar stats to us.

That's kind of reassuring. It would be great if we both got in! December seems very far from now. Too bad we can't just skip the agony of waiting

Yeah I know. I really want to go to BU, but I'm pretty happy with my other choices. Boston is my favorite place in the world though so it'd be great. Any idea what dorm you want?
