good luck. a few can pull it off fairly easily, most, uhh, can't--to say the least. 53/54 curves have been brutal the last few semesters and whyyyy are you taking chem4a? you have three classes that are each supplemented with a minimum of 4 hours of lab/discussion in addition to lecture. all three are weeders. and it's your first semester. and you're aiming for a 4.0. if the difficulty doesn't get you, the time management should. it's possible, especially if you come from a competitive high school and you're used to the workload... but, dude, don't expect the 4.0.

keep in mind that your first semester is a time for adjustment. it's when you'll meet most of your friends. hang out with your floor, attend a few events. you don't want to be holed up in the basement of soda the rest of your life.

I thought 53/54 was considered easier than 1b, which is a notorious weeder class. Or, so I heard.

I come from the Irvine school district, which is fairly competetive, I suppose. I know I will have to develop good study habits--I've never really needed them before :(.

Also, I'm taking 4a just because I can ^__^. Seems like the next logical class to take after AP Chem.

Friends? I'll be living off campus--it's gonna be hard to make any of them anyway. I'll manage, though.

Heh,

My roommate who's gonna try and switch to BioE:
Physics 7A
Math 1B
Chem 1A
CS 61A
Music 26AC or some other humanities

"Seems like the next logical class to take after AP Chem."

AP classes cannot compare..

53/54 is easier than 1a/b (generally), but it doesn't mean that it's easy. you're still on the same curve with arguably better students as only hard sciences require 53/54 whereas a lot of humanities people end up in 1a/b.

i never picked up a book in high school either (granted, i went to a pretty crappy one), but there's just no comparison between high school and college. (well, okay, i know three people who say high school is comparable to cal. one went to the top public in cali, but his high school classmates completely disagree with him. plus, the only flaws on his transcript are from 53/54, btw. it's definitely not -that- easy. the other two went to a private tech school across the street from caltech which was basically four years of hell. aaaaand i digress.)

everybody else in 4a will have taken AP chem. a good portion of 1a will have too. chem1a really was easy, but you're going to want that easy A. it's one of the few you will get. why torture yourself by cramming in random stuff that you won't remember by the time of graduation?

okay, so it sounds like you don't mind having no life for... the rest of your life? eeech. i'm sorry. you might just be one of those geniuses that will completely pull it off. just make sure to have some fun on the side.

Your definition of "having a life" is different from mine.

But, your words scare me. I'm no genious. I'm not even smart. At best, I'm just a guy who knows how to work against the system.

Perhaps I should stop acting cool and enroll into math 1b and chem 1a. Or, maybe I should not do anything, fail all my first semester classes, then consider it my wake up call to college. Woababa o_o

Sounds like a plan. A++

wadda 'bout applyin 2 political science major, does that matter?
