Applying Engineering Undeclared

I'm applying to the College of Engineering, but I'm stuck between choosing EECS or just applying as Engineering Undeclared. I've heard it's hard to switch between engineering majors, but I've also heard that applying Engineering Undeclared hurts your chances of admission since so many people apply as undeclared. Can anyone comment on this? Would it hurt my chances a lot to apply as Engineering Undeclared instead of choosing EECS?

I'm really sorry if this has been addressed before, but I just wanted to be absolutely sure. Any help or advice at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

If you want to do EECS, why not just go for it…?

EECS and Eng. Undeclared are two of the hardest Engineering schools to get into. It’s really a pick your poison kind of game.

@UpMagic, it’s just what I’m leaning towards at the moment, I’m afraid I might end up not liking it and wanting to switch out :</p>

If you don’t like it, you can switch out. No big deal. Interest changes in college.

^ Is it that easy to switch between engineering majors though?

My son is Engineering Undeclared. Engineering Undeclared and EECS are the two hardest engineering majors in which to gain admission. If you get admitted to either, you would be able to switch majors within the COE easily as long as you maintain an acceptable GPA. However getting accepted two either of these is very, very difficult.

Switching out of EECS is very common. I would just apply EECS because it’s a little easier and a lot of people I know leave EECS for MechE, ChemE, BioE, etc.

thanks a lot everyone! :)
