Applying for a closed minor..?

I really wanted to minor in Community Health (with my major I just CANNOT fit in another full major) but online it says the minor is no longer accepting applications; I called the undergraduate advisor and she said there are just too many people in the program right now. However, it would really compliment my major and I really find the subject interesting. Do you think if I am persistent enough (without being obnoxious) I could get into the program? I was just so excited!

Can you just follow what the required courses are to meet the minor requirements? You can continue to take classes that interest you in that area. That way you can sign up for an appropriate class for spring, and then ask to meet with the undergrad advisor next semester. Some minors you can just do the work for and “declare” it at the end…I’m guessing by the sounds of it that this minor involves some internship or external requirements, though?

Nope, it’s just 21 credits worth of classes ([University of Maryland Undergraduate Catalog 2011-2012](<a href=“The University of Maryland | A Preeminent Public Research University”>The University of Maryland | A Preeminent Public Research University)). My only fear is that I will take the classes and then they won’t give me the minor D:

How bizarre that they would say it is “closed”. I don’t remember what year you are, but I think that D1 didn’t declare her “minor” until the end of jr yr or early senior year, tho she planned it (and took classes for it) all along…

Alrighty then, thank you!
