Lately, I have become interested in getting a second masters in English. I have an undergraduate degree in Philosophy/English. After I finished that I went on to get a masters in English Education (technically a masters in science of teaching secondary English). For the last two years, I have been a high school teacher in the South Bronx.

A lot of the English programs I'm looking at a seem a bit mediocre. That's really okay with me. I want to use this masters as a spring board to a PhD. However, I'm a bit concerned about getting into a program.

Most of the programs I look at require a undergrad GPA of 3.0. My GPA was a 2.8. I have no idea what my major GPA was but most of my grades in my literature classes were as follows: 2.5, 3.0, 3.0, 2.7, 3.7, 3.7, and 3.7. I should mention that those 3.7 were all in upper division classes and one was actually a graduate class in contemporary fiction. Another concern of mine is that I transfered schools my after my second year and my grades in my major were all letter grades and they were: B+, A-, B, B+, C-, B, and A.

I wonder if my Masters GPA, which was a 3.3, will be taken into consideration by admissions and is something I hope shows I candle graduate work.
