Hi! I’m not gonna be actually writing college essays for a while (I’m nearly a high school junior) but I was looking at this year’s common app prompts so I know what to expect next year. As I was thinking about what I would write I realized most of my ideas had to do with acting or theatre. I know for certain that I will be applying to almost unanimously BFA Acting schools, so is writing about acting taboo? I assume it is but would like input. Not that it really matters at the moment, but still…
Writing about extracurriculars in general could be using up your chance to show adcoms other facets of your personality, your background, other interests, etc. But if you can somehow integrate new information into an essay related to acting, then I don’t see why not; that’s what’s important.
