I know an essay is not REQUIRED but is encouraged for admission to UCF. Because of that , I figured it would be best for my son to make sure he completes the essay as well. He made a good point that as a Top 10 Knight he’s guaranteed admission to UCF. He will also be applying to The Honors college so of course will submit any required essay there. What do you all think, is he going to rejected if he doesn’t do the admission essay. Just trying to get some opinions.
His stats are
WGPA: 4.9
Unweighted GPA:3.9
AICE DIPLOMA EARNED
rSAT 1500(v710m790)
Mu alpha theta, national honor society, marching band, band, key club
Bright futures scholarship, AP scholar
1st place winner Digital Knight Competition both 9th and 10th grades
Any input would be interesting to hear. His reasoning is to save up his essay skills for the honors application.
If he’s a Top 10 Knight, he shouldn’t bother with the regular undergraduate admissions essay. However, Honors college apps were due back in January, I don’t think you can still apply.
@ucfprincess You might be thinking of the January priority deadline. You can still apply for the Honors College up until March 31st, I believe.
Oh, sorry, meant to say, he is class of 2018. Just getting prepared. Marching band people motto " to be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late" , thanks
Funny, my younger son says that about marching band too! Must be their thing.
Do you think the essay for regular admissions is looked at for the Pegasus scholarships?
I think so, yes. (at least I would if I were an Admissions person!)
Thanks @trisherella . I guess it’s back to the drawing board. Or essay board.
My s and d did admissions essay. It is different from Burnett essay.
I’m back looking for some answers. wondering how many of the Pegasus award winners who were Top Ten Knights did NOT complete the essay for admissions. I am really wondering if it’s required for the scholarship portion.
