I thought I will alpply ILR school only, but I heard that if I apply for both primary school and alternative school, you have more chance to get in. Is it true?

No. Only a small percentage of people are even considered for the alternate school. It's not a second crack at getting into Cornell. Your application will only be forwarded to the second school if they determine your essays/EC's make you a better fit for the second school. I think approx. 5% of applications reach the alternate school.

and I think only 2.5% of applicants were accepted into their second choice college.

Thanks guys! I should just focus on ILR essay then

I believe primary/alternate was new option last year, so it's really hard to say much about it. Do you think you are a really strong candidate for ILR? If so just work on that.
