Applying for Class of 2028 - send SATs or not?

My son is applying for fall 2024 admissions. I’ve read the updated cut-offs for last year, but I’m still wondering if he should send his SATs or not. The highest cut-off score was 1430, and he currently has a 1450 (he’s giving it one more crack this weekend.) I read on an earlier thread that the scores aren’t worth sending if they aren’t 1500 +. Does anyone have any advice on this? His current unweighted GPA (end of junior year) is 3.97 (I know they don’t look at weighted.) Thanks.

I would say send the result if they are above cutoff. (They also look at it for scholarships).

I think that 1450 is quite good for McGill. I would send it.

With an unweighted 3.97 plus a 1450 SAT score I think that your son’s chances for McGill are quite good. I also think that Montreal would be an interesting place to spend four years and McGill is a good place to get a great education.

Cutoffs are different per major or school. My son is currently a McGill student. He started in Fall 2022 in CS & Math. Cutoffs were 700 in language part of Sat & 700 in math part. He had a 690 in English and 790 in Math. GPA was 4.0 UW. He did not send it his SAT and got in!
So, look at the specifics of both language and math for the specific major (s) he is applying.
