Applying for college when already accepted

Hello,

I have been accepted to a college but plan on deferring my entry to the fall of 2017. Would it be possible during this gap year to apply to other colleges?

Some colleges make you promise you won’t. Note that you Shouldn’t apply to the same colleges that already turned you down since it’d be pointless, unless you apply to an automatic admission university where you previously didn’t meet the automatic criteria.

But what if I were to improve my scores and application as a whole, would it still be pointless applying to the same colleges that turned me down for this fall?

Thank you for your help MYOS1634!

Yes, it’d still be pointless. You’d have to do something extraordinary, like qualify for the olympic games or win Siemens, to get your application to be re-evaluated. They already evaluated it once.
The only exception would be university with “automatic admission” criteria, like UAlabama, Temple, or UIowa, when you didn’t meet their criteria before and after retesting now you do (ie.,you had a 3.47 and 23 ACT, now you have 3.51 and 25ACT so you meet the basic requirements for XX State University when before, you didn’t.)
