Is it possible to do both?

To the same school? No. EA to some and regular decision to others? Absolutely.

Not to the same school. If you apply EA and are deferred, you will be reevaluated in the regular admissions round

Thanks guys … I only get my results at the end of January, looks like I can’t apply for either EA or ED then. =/

What results are you waiting for? If it is midterm/semester grades you don’t need to wait for them. EA apps are evaluated based on grades 9-11. If the adcoms who evaluate you EA believe they need to see another semester of grades they will defer to you RD.

If you won’t have required test scores by the EA deadline, that is a problem.

Oh, so if my “grade 11” results are not good enough, they send me over to RD?
I’m international as well, I have to submit my A Level results… Don’t know if that changes anything

International is really a different thing and you probably need specific int’l advice. But, a lot of cc posters are internationals who are applying ED at selective schools, so I can’t imagine you have to wait. There are some selective schools that seem to give away a lot of their available international aid in the ED round.

I won’t be taking out aid though …

So as an International student, I get an advantage over regulars when applying ED/EA?

That totally depends on the school and varies quite a lot from one institution to the other.
