Ok, here are my stats. And, yes, there are real. And, yes, I understand how unbelievable it is that I got in. And, yes, my stats do look like ironic’s to some degree. Here we go:

Gender: Female
High school: Private college-prep day school in NH.

High school GPA: around a 3.0 - I had all As freshman and sophomore year, As and Bs junior year, and then pretty much Bs and Cs my senior year (rowing became my life as we became one of the fastest women’s boats in the Northeast).

High School APs: APUSH - 3

High School ECs: All school VP Junior and Senior year; Class VP sophomore, junior, and senior year; Varsity rowing all four years (I didn’t do recruiting because I have back and knee problems); over 500 hours of community service (worked with mentally disabled kids, tutored ESL (english as a second language) students with Spanish); Involved with youth leadership positions in NH; Captain of the Snowboarding team; Writer for the school newspaper; Community service award

College: University of Vermont
College GPA: 3.5 (Freshman Fall semester) 4.0 from UNH for my winter courses (for pre-req fulfillments)
Major: Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences

College ECs: Coordinator of the UVM PreMed Club; Member of the student and National Student Dietetic Association; Hall Council Representative

College Honors: Offered Admission to the UVM Honors College; Invitee to the National Collegiate Scholars Association; Nominee for the UVM Premedical Enhancement Program

App Details: By the time this semester is complete, I will have allll of my prerequisites done, which was definitely a huge plus I think. My essays were impeccable. I addressed every question Cornell asked, and had specific details as to why Cornell was right for me, and why I was right for Cornell. When I came to college this fall, I aimed for leadership positions and activities that reflected my academic interests in nutrition and the medical field. Obviously, my strength is in my extracurriculars which is what most likely makes me stand out away from my lackluster GPA.

My letters of recommendation came from a high school teacher (who was also my student council advisor for three years) and my nutrition professor from this past fall (I got an A in the class) who happened to be a Cornell alum (completely by chance, and I interviewed with him for 2 hours before he wrote my letter so that he could write genuinely about who I was - I was just one student out of 300 in his lecture, so his getting to know me was crucial).

I also sent in all of my materials so that they would be in the undergrad admissions office BY March 15th, not just postmarked by then. I also worked my butt off the first half of this semester, and sent in a midterm report with a 3.75 GPA (I also took 18 credits last semester, and am taking 18 again this spring).

For diversity purposes, I am a white female from NH. Nothing special or interesting at all lol. I can basically attribute my acceptance to my essays which emphasized my upward trend in grades and my rediscovered passion for academics, which I had lost in high school due to my rowing career. I also had great extracurriculars to back me up. But all in all, I think a lot of it has to do with chance.

Good job Cheeky!!! I totally understand why you got accepted; you deserve it!!!

I tried to get in as much information as I could. I’m willing to answer any questions, so: shoot.

And for the record, I am not a legacy or anything.

cheeky you legitly deserved your acceptance to Cornell. I am really proud of you and glad you got in. You obviously love cornell and it apparently showed as your acceptance. I truly wish you the best there :D

Thank you, thank you!!! I am so pumped. I really hope all of us get in because we would definitely be the most enthusiastic, passionate, crazy group of transfers ever. Hopefully everyone hears soon. I still cannot believe I heard today - so random…and bizarre.

Cheeky, if I get in Cornell, please teach me snowboarding :D

I hope you all get in, this thread is so awesome :)

Agh!! My SelfService has all of the sections Checked off but it has not been sent to review yet :frowning:
I guess I still have a while to wait haha

I’m way too excited about Cheeky’s email. I can’t sleep and I’m getting up early for a Cornell Nano science lecture/workshop at my school tomorrow. Cornell keeps me up at night, and wakes me up in the morning. Go figure.

I hope we all hear back soon! I Everytime my iPhone buzzes I now scramble to check if it’s an e-mail from Cornell. The anticipation is killing me!

I love how this thread is always so easy to find, because it’s always at the top of the Transfer Students section of CC. We definitely are the most enthusiastic applicant pool!

omg i fall asleep thinking about cornell and wake up checking the self-service and this thread. lol. here’s to another night of cornell dreams…

good night everyone. we should all have a reunion in AUGUST!!!
