I wanted to ask if international students can apply for FA after they were admitted (while not originally applying for aid when applying to Harvard College). By “after” I mean after their freshman year for example (to get some form of aid during sophomore year).
I know that at 99% of schools international students can’t do so, so I’m sorry if this is a stupid question; I just thought that because Harvard is need blind it may be different.
Can International Students apply for FA after they were admitted?
Can International Students after their freshman year to get some form of aid during sophomore year?
The answer to both questions is yes.
If you are admitted for freshman year, you could apply for aid AFTER you accept Harvard’s offer. However, as it takes several months for Harvard’s Financial Aid Office to calculate aid for students who applied after the deadline, students will not know how much aid has been granted until June or July – a month before you have to move in. That’s cutting it tight for students who’s family may not be able to afford the $60K tuition, so it’s really unwise to go that route unless your family has the resources to pay the full fare for freshman year.
Domestic and International Students must reapply for financial aid every year they attend the college. If a student did not apply for aid their freshman year, but their families financial circumstances change, students may apply for financial aid in their subsequent years, even though they didn’t apply for financial aid their freshman year.
