I will be a returning second-year student for 2011-2012. Do I have to fill out the CSS/Profile again? Is it just the FAFSA that is required?

Also, is it okay to wait until I do my tax returns to file the FAFSA, just as long as it's before the priority deadline (Mar. 1)? I hear that it's better to submit your FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1st in order to receive the maximum amount of aid possible, but I'd hate having to estimate my tax information and then correct it later if it wouldn't make any difference in the end..

I’m pretty sure you need both. Also, I think you have to do the FAFSA before the deadline, but there’s an option for delaying your taxes. I’m not sure, though. I’d email one of their advisers if you wanna know more.

Just remove the spaces and check out the site, it’s pretty helpful.

Returning students do not need to fill out the CSS/Profile, just the FAFSA. There are questions on the FAFSA to indicate whether you are submitting it before filing your taxes so be sure to check those off; then, once you have filed your taxes you can go back and update the FAFSA with the final numbers from your tax returns. The main thing is to file the FAFSA before the deadline.
