Applying for Honors - which one?

So my friend and I were talking about our honor apps but turns out we’re using different apps on TAMU. One is this: https://apply2.cse.tamu.edu/gts/EH/Profile.php and the other is this: http://hurapps.tamu.edu/haf/. We’re both recent Dwight Look admits, Chem E and CS majors. Which one should we apply for and what’s the difference?

Thanks!

You can apply to one or both, Engineering Honors and/or University Honors: https://engineering.tamu.edu/academics/certificates/eh/faq#honors

One is University Honors and the other is Engineering Honors. You can apply to be in either one or even both if you want, its really up to you and what you are looking to get out of these programs. Regardless of which one you are in, you get the same benefits of being able to have priority registration and get to choose honors sections of classes. If you are University Honors, your freshman year you are required to live in the Honors dorm with other University Honors students as part of a Living Learning Community. I believe its the Lechner dorm. Students of any major can be in university honors as long as they meet the requirements and are accepted. There are enrichment activities you do in university honors and certain criteria to meet to stay in. Now on the other hand, Engineering Honors is a certificate program with its own requirements like maintaining a 3.5 GPA, taking 6 hours of undergraduate research, and taking 18 hours of STEM honors credits. You don’t have to live in Lechner. Once you get into your major, the program is administered by the individual engineering departments that may have additional requirements. I’m in the Engineering Honors program and I highly recommend it, you get special advising and get introduced into many opportunities the college of engineering has to offer.
