hi friends, i wish to apply for honors but i dont know if it will make it harder for me to get normally (as i am not auto-accepted; im only top50% 2260 sat score; eagle scout). since im pretty sure im not making it into ut, i really want to go to A&M and i wanna know if its worth applying to honors if im not even getting in normally (most likely) and whether it will hurt my chances of normal acceptance. also, how do you apply? this may sound silly cuz hte website should explain it and all, but i just didnt get it. i got my counselor to send in the scholarship/honors requird form through mail, but it hasnt shown up in my AIS undergraduate admissions list of things received (but then again netiher has my SAT score i sent over a year ago, adn then again on nov 23, 2009) and im confused. where is the sepaarate form? UT has a separate online form thats easy to get to, but A&M? not so much. UT has a good page showing what they have received and what they need; a&ms a bit lacking there as well...

Hey tourdeforce!
Applying to the honors program will not impact your application to the university in a good or bad way- they go to separate offices and are reviewed separately. And you should definitely just call and ask about whether they have received those materials- you don’t want to wait until it is too late to fix it if there was a problem.
Good luck!

I think you can only enroll in honors courses if you’re either top 10% with 1250+ M/CR SAT or a National Merit, National Achievement, or National Hispanic Scholar.

I’m not National merit, so I have to be in top 10% to get into honors? Seriously? I’m Auto-Admit with a 32 on the ACT and have already been admitted to a top university, yet I can’t get into honors at A&M? Aww man… it’s not my fault that my class is ultra competitive. :'(

Well I guess it only applies to University Honors Program. College and departmental honors programs might have another criteria but it should be similar.

maybe you can get in later. call and ask.

All it takes to get in to the honors program is to have above a 3.5 GPA. So wait a semester, then apply for honors.
