Applying for housing although not sure if attending?

Ok, so as probably interpreted by my other thread, I'm not sure if I'm going to USC because of the cost but the guy said at ExploreUSC that we should put down the $30 deposit so if we decide to go we'll have our preference (hopefully) of housing, but the form in our acceptance packet seems as though it should only be filled out if we actually are 100% sure on going. Does anyone know what to do? I've called the admissions office and emailed them but USC is kinda slow =/.

Yes, you can send in the form (WITH the non-refundable deposit) even if you are not going to attend. If you do not attend, then no deposit back (no duh). The benefit of sending it in, is that the choices are 'mostly' made on a first come, first served basis. Those who sent in their housing applications earlier receive some type of priority placement in the choices, over those who send it in later. (I say this from what i have heard at an Explore USC meeting where a Housing Official was present, and from reading the material on USC websites, and USC brochures that we have received.). As is always the case, the best answers would be obtained by calling the appropriate department (Housing, in this case).
