I haven’t started the housing application process yet, but I just got a notice today from UM asking me to apply for housing soon. I submitted my application for LSA Honors a few weeks ago, and have yet to hear a response. Are you supposed to wait for a response before you apply for housing, as honor students live in a specific area?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
My understanding as a newbie parent to an admitted student is that the housing applications can go in anytime before early May (can’t find exact date right now but think I read May 7 somewhere?) because that is when your housing priority will be set and is independent of when you turn your app in as long as it’s before then. That said, signing up for freshman orientation as soon as possible to get early orientation dates is recommended.

According to the 2nd link, you should find out about honors before May. Meanwhile you could look into other housing options in case honors doesn’t work out. My daughter found that emailing questions to various offices at U-M has been very fruitful if we can’t find it on the website. I don’t want to steer you wrong so please someone correct me if needed. Good Luck and Go Blue!!!
