Applying for housing

I have a quick question that hopefully someone will be able to answer- when do you apply for housing? Do you do it after you've been accepted, or do you have to wait until you enroll? (I've been accepted to my state flagship but I don't want to go there unless I don't get in anywhere else, but housing choices are pretty slim.) Thank you!

You can usually apply for housing after you have accepted the offer of admission. You should search the college’s website and see what you need to do to apply for housing and by when you must apply; every college provides that information on its website.

Yes, definitely check the website of EVERY school you are accepted to, the range in how schools deal with housing is huge.

For some it’s first come first served, for other’s there’s a priority deadline; for some there’s a refundable deposit if you later decide not to attend, for others it’s non-refundable. There was one school last year (state flagship) where you could reserve housing BEFORE being accepted!

Thank you!
